Day journey of a single working mum with two children
I don't drive.
Every week day, I send my little one to her nursery that is 0.2 miles from home (it takes 3 minutes). Then I send my old kid to school that is 0.7 miles from the nursery (takes 15 minutes). After that I go to office that is 0.8 miles from the school (takes 20 minutes).
In the evening, I first collect my old one from her after school care which is 1.3 miles from my work (it takes me 25 minutes), then to the little one's nursery that is 1.1 miles from the after school care (takes 22 minutes). Finally, bring both children home (again 0.2 miles and 3-minute walk).
Totally, my daily walking distance is 4.3 miles and I spend 1.5 hours on the road.
Miles: 0.2 + 0.7 + 0.8 + 1.3 + 1.1 + 0.2 = 4.3 miles
Minutes: 3 + 15 + 20 + 25 + 22 + 3 = 1 hr 30 min
The actually time I spend is 2 hours (one hour in the morning, and one in the evening) if you count the time sign-in and sign-out children, a very brief talk to their teachers, etc. It means I have to leave office at 5 pm sharp, or I won't be able to collect the little one form nursery by 6 pm which may result a late-collection fine.
